Activating an eSIM on Android is usually straightforward. The exact steps depend on your phone model and mobile network, but here’s the standard method.
Step 1: Open Settings
Go to Settings → Connections → SIM manager on Samsung phones.
On Google Pixel and many other Android phones, go to Settings → Network & internet → SIMs.
Step 2: Add your eSIM
Tap Add eSIM or Add mobile plan. Your phone may search for available plans automatically.
3. Scan your QR code
Select the option to scan a QR code supplied by your mobile network. Follow the on-screen instructions.
If you don’t have a QR code, your network may offer manual activation or activation through its app.
4. Turn on the eSIM
Once downloaded, make sure the eSIM is enabled. Select it as your preferred SIM for calls, texts and mobile data if required.
Before you start:
- Connect to Wi-Fi.
- Make sure your phone supports eSIM.
- Have your network’s activation QR code or instructions ready.
- If you’re transferring an existing number, check whether your network needs to activate the eSIM or transfer the number first.
